Resumen:
Different types of activism may converge in the same political struggle. Among them it is possible to identify one which claims and targets are placed ´inside´ the scientific field. Some actors, aware of and concerned about the political implications of scientific knowledge, try to intervene and actively change some of the dynamics of its production and usage. While social resistance to new productive models has been deeply studied by social movement scholars, little attention has been payed to specific controversies placed in-between scientific and legal arena. This paper tries to fill that gap. Through the concept of ´scientific activism´ I shed light on those political initiatives aimed at producing changes in the dominant scientific paradigms, the scientific principles behind environmental legislations as well as the role of science and its relationship with the corporate world.
