Resumen:
The aim of this work is to study the release of lemon essential oil (model aroma) in blown nanocomposite films based on polypropylene (PP) containing 5% w/w talc nanoparticles. In this sense, three independent and complementary techniques were used to study this physical phenomenon, such as gravimetry, thermogravimetry and infrared spectroscopy with Fourier transform. The obtained results demonstrated that nanocomposites films released the aromatic molecules slower than PP ones. Talc nanoparticles acted as ?retention agents? of essential oil because of their absorbent character. They also hindered the passage of oil molecules through the film due to their spatial distribution within the polymeric matrix and the increment in crystallinity degree induced in PP by the nucleating character of these particles.
