Resumen:
To the Editor—We thank Drs Buonfrateand Bisoffi for reading our article. Oursmall long-term observational follow-upstudy included 21 ivermectin-treatedpatients; 14 of them presented with reactivation by larvae observation [1]. A fewyears ago, our group reported that 1 of10 patients with strongyloidiasis showeda persistent increase in eosinophil countsbeginning 4 months after ivermectin treatment, reaching values of eosinophilia afterthe 10th month of follow-up [2]. Accordingto this observation, 3–4 consecutive stoolsamples were exhaustively examined byagar plate culture (APC). In the third test,at the 10th month, Strongyloides stercoralislarvae were detected [2].
