Resumen:
Non-critical string theories in D dimensions provide a natural way to overcome the problem of the extra dimensions and the consequent unwanted K-K mass tower in theAdS/CFT [1], that appear when compatifying. This converts such theories in natural candidates for gravity duals of QCD. The price to pay is a non zero cosmological constantin the low energy supergravity approximation that lead us to curved backgrounds in which 0R 1 and hence the low energy approximation is not longer under control. Anyway,it is worth noticing that although the typical effective non critical action is not well defined, since the higher order corrections in the curvature must be taken into account, it isstill able to reproduce some exact conformal solutions, as it is the case of the ”Cigar”, the ”Trumpet” and AdS3.In view of this, we are embarking on the programme to obtain the general solution of the fully coupled second order equation of the non critical effective action, and to look fortheir gauge counterpart via the extension of the AdS/CFT to Gravity/Gauge correpondence.
