ON INCOME DISTRIBUTION DYNAMICS DURING THE 1970?s IN ARGENTINA: A CLASSICAL-STRUCTURALIST APPROACH

The long-lasting, distributive changes in Argentina during the 1970s, have been largely studied from different theoretical perspectives. What has not been sufficiently examined yet, however, is the reasons that may explain the heterogeneous trends observed in wage-dynamics during that same years, both under the Third Peronist democratic administration (1973-1976) and, specially, under the dictatorial Regime (1976-1983). To fill this gap, we develop a model inspired in the modern Classical-Structuralist approach to income distribution. We argue that these heterogeneous trends reveal the existence of a partial correspondence between the class interests of the 1976 coup and the effects on income distribution of the successive economic programs implemented by the dictatorial regime.
