Resumen:
The fecal pellet group count technique was used to estimate gray brocket deer density in a protected area in the west of Cordoba province (Chancaní Reserve). Seventy plots were surveyed for brocket sign on two occasions: in summer (February) and in winter (August). The density values obtained in this study, 4.41 individuals/km2 in summer and 5.12 individuals/km2 in winter, serve as a first count of the species? density in the Reserve and constitute a management tool for monitoring the populations within this protected area, as well as in similar habitats in the arid Chaco.
