Resumen:
The esterification reaction of silanol groups on the surface of fumed silica nanoparticles with cinnamic alcohol was employed. The obtained nanoparticles were characterized by FTIR spectra of the solid material and UV-visible absorption spectra of aqueous suspensions. The specific surface area (SSA) was measured from nitrogen adsorption isotherms (BET method). The fraction of modified silanol groups was calculated from the decrease of SSA of the derivatized nanoparticles with respect to the bare SiO2 particles. The composite was in vitro and in vivo tested as UV light photoprotector.
