?Servo-hydraulic testing machines are used tocharacterize materials and evaluate mechanical assemblies. Thecorrect operation of this type of equipment makes it necessaryto use an electronic controller, normally provided by the samemanufacturer of the machine. This paper presents the designand implementation of a digital rod displacement controller fora non-commercial servo-hydraulic testing machine. The offlineidentification process of the system plant is described, for whicha linear model is used to represent its dynamics. The designedcontrol strategy is based on a Proportional−Integral−Derivative(PID) controller and a digital filter that improves the trackingof the reference signal. Simulation and experimental results arepresented from which the implemented design is verified.
