Resumen:
In this communication we report the synthesis and structural characterization of a new coordination complex of copper(II) and telmisartan, its antihypertensive, cytotoxic, antibacterial and antifungal effects. The octanuclear complex CuTlm defines the inner bond of hydrophobic channels forming molecular nanometer tubes that extends through the crystal. Complexation of the antihypertensive medication generates beneficial properties such as enhancement of the antioxidant activity, cytotoxic behavior against lung and prostate cancer, preservation of the original pharmaceutical properties and antibacterial effect against S. aureus.
