Resumen:
A new design of ion selective electrode was tested for copper, lead and nickel detection. This device does not require an inner solution of the analyte, as the PVC membrane is deposited over a solid substrate of glassy carbon. Nernstian responses were obtained for the copper and nickel electrodes. The construction, conditioning, calibration, response times, signal/noise ratio and the application of the nickel sensor are described. The effect of the plasticizer, of the conditioning period and the thickness of the PVC membrane used were also studied. The nickel sensor and UV-vis. spectroscopy were used to quantify nickel in an aqueous solution after treatment with different concentrations of granular activated carbon. Very good stability and reproducibility was obtained for the nickel sensor in a period of 2 years.
