Resumen:
In this work, the results of a multi-technique characterization of a type of pottery production withhigh cultural and economic relevance from the only potter town in Argentina are presented andcorrelated.The raw materials were studied in terms of their structural (XRD), microstructural (SEM),granulometric, and thermal properties. The plasticity and drying behavior of these clay pasteswere systematically addressed. The effect of heating treatment (firing), the microstructuredeveloped and the coefficient of thermal expansion of these ceramics were studied.Some distinctive properties of this Casira ceramic production are reported for the first time. Thisallows establishing characteristic behaviors of the ceramics under study, which also constitute thebasis for their traceability.
