Resumen:
Purpose An important issue during the deployment of flow diverter stents is the change in total length (foreshortening)underwent by the device when is released in the blood vessel from the catheter. The distal end is controlled by theinterventionist, but knowing the proximal end of the device is not trivial. Methods Computation of the flow diverter stent when it is deployed is based on the morphological characterization ofthe blood vessel along with the study of the change of length of small segments of the braided device. Results The method has been applied in real 3D mesh surfaces extracted from Three-Dimensional Rotational Angiog-raphy images of real patients. Length estimation varies in the order of 15-30% with respect to the stent specification. Conclusion The described technique could provide useful information for improved endovascular treatment of in-tracraneal aneurysms in the future.
