Resumen:
Gastronintestinal helminthosis is a major problem in both cattle and sheep but studies on the economic effects on grazing livestock has largely involved the beef cattle industry; parasite control is the variable which has the highest correlation with increasing production. Economic impact studies have shown that helminthosis in cattle have deletereous effects on liveweight gains, heifer reproduction, milk production, carcase composition, etc. The current practices of parasite control and problems encountered in their implementantion as well as the opportunities for biological control are discussed in this paper.
