Resumen:
High-performance methodologies allow thousands of entities to be interrogated at the same time. Currently, the new generation of DNA sequencing (NGS) techniques enables the effective, rapid, complete and economic analysis of the genome and transcriptome of a particular organism. The study of gene expression using NGS, called RNA-Seq, allows the study of the complete repertoire of transcripts in a cell, group of cells or a given organism. These allow the identification of cellular components, signaling pathways and novel action/response mechanisms of a certain condition. While many classical analytical techniques and practices are well established for model organisms, they represent a challenge in themselves in non-model organisms due to the lack of information, for example, of the genome sequence. High-performance sequencing technologies have begun to erase the boundaries between model and non-model organisms, opening up new possibilities in different fields.
