Resumen:
Visual information is captured by the optics of the eye that focuses light rays onto the retina. Here visual information is processed and coded in action potentials that are then transmitted through the optic nerve to the visual cortex and other processing centers. Electrophysiological recordings made in different parts of the visual system have helped to study and understand how it works, but few in vivo records have been made. Particularly optic nerve has been poorly studied with electrophysiological recordings in vivo since there are surgical and technical difficulties to access it. This paper presents a set up that allows to register in vivo compound action potential (CAP) in the optic nerve of the rat.
