Resumen:
We present a detailed analysis about the electromagnetic response of a metamaterial surface with a localized defect.The excitation of electromagnetic surface waves leads to a near?field distribution showing a periodic dependencealong the metamaterial surface. We find that this periodic pattern provides a direct demonstration of the forward orbackward surface wave propagation.
