Resumen:
Growing interest in the application to renewable energy sources has led to a rapid development of fuel cell technologies. From the successful attempts of these technologies in the automotive industry, fuel cells could become the main power source for small general aviation aircraft or could replace APU and internal sub-systems on larger aircraft, to obtain all-electric or more-electric air vehicles. There are several potential advantages of using such a power source that range from environmental and economic issues to performance and operability aspects. The main objective of the European Commission funded project ENFICA-FC (ENvironmentally Friendly Inter City Aircraft powered by Fuel Cells) [1?11] was to develop and validate the use of a FC based power system for the propulsion of more/all electric aircraft.
