Resumen:
While globalization is viewed as key to achieve future economic development, it is also argued that it increases poverty, unemployment and threatens the living standards of the poor people. Like many other developing countries, Argentina attempted during the nineties to integrate its economy to the world market by applying a vast set of economic policies. As a result, the country experienced a process of structural economic and social transformation, being the labor market was one of the sectors most negatively affected. In this context, the aim of the paper is to analyze the impact on the labor market and its related variables (such as wages, income distribution and poverty) of the economic policies applied under the veil of globalization.
