Resumen:
The Uruguayan specimens resemble Asterella venosa(Lehm. & Lindenb.) A.Evans in that both have theirantheridia embedded in the thallus behind the archegoniophore, and the dorsal surface of the thallusbeing light green. However, in contrast to the scaleswith obtuse appendages in A. venosa, those inA. chilensis carry acute lanceolate appendages.
