Resumen:
For the first time whalesbacks derived from glacial abrasion of resistant bedrock oriented in the direction of the ice movement (stream-lined parallel) are described from the Sierras Pampeanas region related to the Late Paleozoic Gondwanan glaciation. These features imply persistence grounded ice action allowing to interprete an important thickness of the flowing ice and conditions compatible with wet-based glaciers. Together with previously described “U”-shaped paleovalleys with glaciolacustrine-glacifluvial fills these shapes strengthen the importance of the Late Paleozoic glacial activity throughout the Sierras Pampeanas region in the central-western Argentina.
