Resumen:
We present the design and performance evaluation of a pneumatic wave pressure generator to be used in a device based on the volume‑clamp method, for measuring arterial wave pressure non‑invasively at the finger. Objective. To develop and test a generator able to reproduce different arterial pressure waves with a heart frequency up to 120 bpm and a wide range of systolic and diastolic pressures. Methods and Results. The device we implemented is based on a compressor, a proportional valve and a control. We measured output pressure at open loop and closed loop response. Conclusions: This characterization allowed us to implement a controller that: 1) compensates the pressure wave generator?s non linearity and 2) makes it respond with good velocity and reproducibility in human diastolic/systolic pressure ranges.
