Resumen:
Leachate is one of the most complex wastewater due to the variable composition that depends on time, climate and waste composition. The feasibility of applying the Fenton process to the treatment of leachate in the province of Misiones is evaluated. The crude leachate is characterized by physicochemical and microbiological parameters determination. Fenton reagents (salts of Fe2+ and H2O2) are added to the characterized leachate, varying the concentration of hydrogen peroxide (0,2-0,6 M). Then the efficiency in reducing COD is determined to establish the optimal concentration and apply it for the decontamination of leachate. In addition, reduction on BOD, N-NH3 y ABS parameters are evaluated. Reductions greater than 50% were achieved in all the evaluated parameters. The increase in the concentration of hydrogen peroxide significantly improves the process in short times and the Fenton process is suitable for improving the discharge conditions of the treated effluent
