Resumen:
Feeding habits of the argentine sandperch Pseudopercis semifasciata in the San Matías gulf were studied during two annual cycles. The study was conducted based on material from commercial fishing landings, and feeding habits were characterized using a methodology that considered the number, weight and ocurrence of the different preys. An euriphagic regime was essentially identified and preferences on food type with the age of fish were also observed. Carcinophagy was common in juvenile fishes whereas at advanced ages sandperch specimens of both sexes become ichtiophagic predators. Diet changes could be related with an increasing of energetic requirements, due to the somato-hepatic growth, the deployment of a complex reproductive strategy and the daily and seasonal migratory movements.Pseudopercis semifasciata in the San Matías gulf were studied during two annual cycles.
