Resumen:
Maintenance of K+ homeostasis is a prerequisite for plant survival and growth. When plants are subjected to K+-deprivation conditions, the potential high-affinity transport of K+ by roots becomes enhanced, being this inducible transport process mediated by members of the group I of HAK-KUP-KT transporters. Almost no information is available regarding the way the ionic environment modulates the contribution of a HAK1 transporter. Here we explored how the contribution of the barley HvHAK1 transporter is controlled by K+-starvation.
