Resumen:
Wheat grain color is associated with traits of agronomic interest such as resistance or susceptibility to preharvest sprouting and grain dormancy. With regard to industrial quality, grain red color is associated with a loss of flour gloss due to contamination with red pigments in the milling process. The objective was to characterize molecularly, through a battery of molecular markers, the Tamyb10-A1 y D1 genes related to the loci R-A1 and R-D1 for grain color in a collection of 102 Argentine baker wheats. For the Tamyb10-A1 gene 67.6% of the varieties characterized showed the red color associated allele while 32.4% of them showed the white color allele. For the Tamyb10-D1 gene 42.2% showed the red allele while 57.8% showed the white allele. The red color is a semi-dominant character, meaning that a variety is considered white when the white allele is presented in all three genes simultaneously (A, B and D). After evaluating combinations of alleles for all three genes Tamyb10 is noted that in the set of cultivars evaluated exists variability for both loci Tamyb10-A1 and D1 and that this variability can be used for the development of wheat with different color shades grain. In addition we are currently performing the characterization of the Tamyb10-B1 locus and a phenotypic characterization of the set of cultivars.
