Resumen:
We identified a QTL for wheat plant height on the short arm of chromosome 6A in the RIL population UC1110 x PI610750, which was previously used to map stripe rust resistant QTL (Lowe et al. 2011). The location of this QTL overlaps with the Rht18 locus. Rht18 induces GA-sensitive semi-dwarfism and could be used as an alternative to the GA-insensitive semi-dwarfing alleles (Rht-B1b, Rht-D1b) to avoid the negative pleiotropic effects (e.g. weak seedling establishment,Haque et al. 2011). To further characterize this region, we performed a GWAS for plant height using 875 hexaploid spring wheat accessions from the core collection of the National Small GrainsCollection (NSGC). The identified region was compared with the genomic sequences of barley, Brachypodium and rice to identify potential candidate genes.
