Resumen:
We study the influence of altruistic behavior in a preypredator model permitting the preys to commit suicide byconfronting the predators instead of escaping. Surprising, altruistic behavior at microscopic (local) scale, leads to theemergence of new complex macroscopic (global) phenomena characterized by dramatic changes in the dynamic topologyof the preypredator spatiotemporal distribution, yielding spiral patterns. We show that such dynamics enhances the preyssurvivability.
