Resumen:
The Fe core was obtained by mechanosynthesis. The Fe cores were coated with a Fe-oxide shell produced by chemicalcoprecipitation procedure to provide biocompatibility and facilitate colloid stabilization with sodium citrate (NaCit).Obtained Fe/FeOx (4/3 < x < 3/2) nanoparticles have a mean size of 11-12 nm, specific saturation magnetization of more than130 emu/gFe and Z-potential of about -40 mV.The separation process was performed using an ad hoc multi chamber prototype holding two NdFeB permanent magnets(Fig. 1). The size distributions of the resulting fractions were characterized by TEM, SAXS and a novel optical method based inUV-Vis spectroscopy.
