Resumen:
In this work, silica microparticles were prepared to as light storage material load ammonia borane as hydride for mobile applications. They were prepared using sol-gel technique using tetramethylortosilicate as precursor. After ageing period, it is necessary to remove the solvent using supercritical drying process at 313K and 110bar, avoiding the presence of any intermediate vapor-liquid transition and surface tension. The size distribution of the microparticles was influenced by shear rate, amount of catalyst and hydrophilic-hydrophobic solvent proportion. Silica aerogel with surface area of 582 m2/g of BET area, a volume of pores of 1 cm3/g, and mean particle diameter ranging from 12 to 27μm were produced using this method. It was loaded from 10 to 50% hydride using air and supercritical drying technique analyzing his release kinetic at 353K.
