Resumen:
Mitochondrial fission is essential for proper organelle localization and function. Recent studies have shown that following ER-mitochondria contact, INF2-dependent actin polymerization promotes mitochondrial constriction in situ. Subsequent assemble of Drp1 rings around constricted mitochondrion ensures the decrease of tubule diameter, allowing Dyn2 to achieve mitochondrial scission. However, neither the specific actin structures implicated nor theregulatory pathways governing these processes have been elucidated.
