Forest Fire Simulation in High Performance Computing

This work presents a research line related to the simulationof wild fires. It is being developed in San Carlos de Bariloche, Rı́o Ne-gro, Patagonia Argentina. Our multidisciplinary team is composed bycomputer scientists, physicists, atmospheric and biological scientists andelectronic engineers, coming from different institutions: CONICET, Uni-versidad Nacional de Rı́o Negro, Centro Atómico Bariloche, UniversidadNacional del Comahue. As a result of this interaction we?ve developed aforest fire simulator with a visual interface that allows to test differentscenarios for fire propagation. The application is tailored according tothe needs of local firefighters with whom we define the main featuresneeded to eventually use our simulator for management purposes.
