Resumen:
The identification of 85 isolates of Candida species, derived from three public pediatric centers in Argentina, revealed a species distribution that differs from several other studies in Argentina and other regions of the world, in which Candida albicans accounts for 50% or more of the isolates. All of the isolates were susceptible to amphotericin B. Most of the isolates of C albicans (29/31) and C tropicalis (25/28) were susceptible to fluconazole, itraconazole, and ketoconazole. All strains of C parapsilosis were susceptible to these azole agents. Two C krusei strains showed resistance to fluconazole and itraconazole but were susceptible to ketoconazole.
