Resumen:
The problem is the degradation of the protective forests and the possibilities of their restoration.The objective is to diagnose the situation of the protective forests of the Piray Miní watershed. Thetool of the qualitative interview is used, and the geographical survey is done with the GeographicalInformation System, and field works. The results confirm the deterioration of the forest; theinstitutions are willing to cooperate in the design of alternative production models. It is concludedthat there is a degradation of the soil protection forests and its restoration is recommended.
