Resumen:
The surface of SBA-15 ordered mesoporoussilica was functionalized with sulphonic and amine functionalgroups to determine the effect of changes in surfaceacidity on cephalexin adsorption and subsequent release.Cephalexin (CPX), which belongs to the group of cephalosporinsor b-lactam antibiotics, was impregnated onfunctionalized SBA-15. The functionalized silica materialswere characterized by SEM, TGA, FTIR and N2 adsorption, and an in vitro drug delivery test was performed. SEMmicrographs showed the packed cylinders correspondto SBA 15 materials. Likewise, N2 adsorption?desorptionisotherms demonstrated that the SBA-15 structure wasobtained when IV-type isotherms were displayed. Theinalterable stabilization of the drug was confirmed by FTIRspectroscopy. For all the samples studied, the deliveryprofiles exhibit two steps. A fast initial stage was obtainedover the first 5 h, followed by a slower one. Regarding thissecond stage, the time needed to attain a plateau wasundoubtedly altered by the surface functionalization.
