Resumen:
Results of geochemical analysis (XRF) of N=61 obsidian artifacts belong to ten archaeological sites of northern Mendoza (32° -33°S) are presented. Sites are located out of the Andean area with volcanic sources, and to the north of the limit (34°) established in the last millennia between farmers and hunter and gatherers societies. Assignation of obsidian artifacts to cordilleran and extra cordilleran sources (34° y 37°S) is evaluated; all of them are located in a distance range between 200 and 500km.Archaeological contexts correspond to a chronological range of ca.7400 and 300 years BP; during which a processes of economic diversification that separated societies of the study area and the ones located southern is recorded. Results contribute to asses human interactions mainly along Andes cordillera, but also suggest changes in scale and modalities of access to the sources in groups with different economic strategies.
