Resumen:
The permanence of the chacarero habitus in agricultural contractors on the Argentinean pampas region. Summary The objective of this work is to present a case study in order to reflect on changes and continuities in the productive social actors, when productive conditions change. Crossed trough Bourdieu´s concepts of habitus and histéresis this presentation will reflect on chacareros/as characteristics present in agricultural contractors who were chacareros in the past. A chacarero is a capitalized family farmer from the Argentinean pampas region, frequently compared to the North American farmer. The concentration processes that agriculture production has experienced during the last decades resulted in the expulsion of more than 30% of the chacarero producers, most of them with small and medium exploitations (associated with this kind of farmers). Displacement and productive reconversion trajectories have been various: one of them is the conversion to agriculture machinery and services contracting (agricultural contractors).
