Resumen:
The glucose is one of the most important nutrients of the brain, and the consumptions levels are associated whit the approximate level of metabolic activity of the brain. The aim of this work was study how this method could help to evaluate the effect of different drugs on metabolic activity of particular brain nuclei, such as lateral septal nucleus (LSN). The samples were incubated at 37°C with 200 μl buffer krebs and treated with a 1) Salina; 2) Pregnenolona (Preg) 12μM; 3) Pregnenolona Sulphate (PS) 12μM; 4) Lidocaine (Lid) 2 μg/μl; 5) Ap7 1 μg/μl and 6) Bicuculine (Bic) 3 μM. Glucose concentrations were measured at 0, 60 and 120 minutes and our results showed that PS and Bic have an negative effect while Lid have a positive effect over metabolic activity. Preg and AP7 showed no effect compared to the control group. This simple method could be useful for various purposes, such as the ratio of level neuronal activity and memory performance.
