AbstractAraucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) Kuntze plantations are important for the conservation of a native critically endangered tree that is also considered a natural monument in Misiones. The objective of this study is to evaluate whether previous uses affect plantation and understory development limiting their conservation capacity. For this purpose, we evaluate changes in the stand structure and understory vegetation. We conclude that previous uses affected tree plantation establishment and decreased understory plant diversity associated with the increase of a dominant shrub (Piper spp.).
