Resumen:
Research on the connection between social inequality and health care has burgeoned over the past five years. Although Latin America is the continent with the highest disparity in income, this is not parallelled with the development of academic efforts or projects aimed at analysing the impact of socio-economic inequality on health/illness/medical care/healthcare processes. Against that backdrop, this work aims to explore inequalities in health from the perspective of Sen?s capabilities approach. We focus on functioning achieved in health and nutrition practices, and physical activity, in populations from different socio-economic contexts and cultures. Our empirical data is based on a survey carried out in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, in the Argentine North Patagonian region .
