Resumen:
The ability to adhere to the intestinal epithelium is one of the main criteria for selecting new probiotic strains, asthis allows them to remain at least transiently in the intestinal tract and exert their effects such as excludingpathogenic bacteria by competing for adhesion sites. Non-specific, hydrophobic interactions contribute in the intitialreversible adhesion of bacteria. Autoaggregation can also be correlated to adhesion to intestinal epithelial cells. Inaddition, aggregation y coagreggation relate to the ability to interact closely to undesirable bacteria. In this study, weinvestigated the adhesion to intestinal epithelial cells of selected lactobacilli isolated from fermented products andhuman faeces. The hydrophobicity and electron-donor properties, as well as their abilities to auto- an co-aggregatewith pathogenic strains were screened.
