Resumen:
This paper addresses whether and how new information and communication technologies (ICT) serve to institutionalize a gender perspective in public policies. Given that ICT may affect public organizations’ management and performance, as well as the democratic processes giving legitimacy to the role of the State, I pursue a two-fold objective. First, I analyze the impact of ICT on how women’s state organizations can actually influence public policies. Second, I examine whether ICT enhance the voice of women’s civil society organizations in the process of mainstreaming gender into public policies. I take the gender mainstreaming in the Chile’s public sector as a case.
