Resumen:
This article will focus the attention on the process of development of an Spanish migration policy, its specific characteristics and its impact on the social perceptions and definitions of migration and immigrants population. In this essay, we offer a sketch of the socio-political and economic transformations, with an special attention to the characteristics of the labour market and the welfare state. The second part focuses on the antecedents of the immigration policy and the feature of the integration policies, stressing the roll of the different social actors involves.
