Resumen:
The fiberoptic (FO) dosimetry concept, which relieson the assessment of dose by measuring the intensity of thelight emitted by a tiny sample of a radioluminescent (RL)compound coupled to an optical fiber cable, is gaining importanceas a promising dosimetry technique for in-vivo dosimetry. In this work the design, construction and test of atissue-equivalent RL probe is described. The intensity of theRL emission of Mn-doped Lithium Tetraborate samples duringirradiation is used as an estimate of the relative dose. Theinfluence of spurious luminescence is discussed and a removingmethod based on simple optical filtering is implemented. Finally, the response of the probe in the context of a typicaldepth-dose experiment in a 60Co radiotherapy facility is analyzedand compared to the response of a standard ionizingchamber.
