Resumen:
This article presents an urban overview of prostitution in the city of Buenos Aires from the late colonial period to the recent trends. It covers a critical review of recent historiography, methodology and sources available. It also discusses different definitions of prostitution throughout the large period in question. Finally, it attempts to present the more important aspects of labor market for prostitution.
