Resumen:
Many isolated bones recovered from Upper Cretaceous beds of Patagonia have been recently identified as belonging to ankylosaurs. The femur has a hemispherical femoral head, the fourth trochanter is small, conical, ventrally concave dermal plates are present. Other features, such as the retention of a proximally positioned fourth trochanter, suggest that the material has closer affifnities to the nodosaurids than to the ankylosaurids. All remains described here come from the same geological levels as hadrosaurs, suggesting that the South American ankylosaurs were part of the same faunal interchange with North America that occurred near the end of the Cretaceous.
