Second-Order Modifier Adaptation via Quadratic Interpolation

We present a second-order modifier-adaptation approach for real-time optimization in the presence of plant-model mismatch. The approach combines the use of a nominal first-principles model and a data-driven quadratic approximation of the plant-model mismatch. The effectiveness of the approach is demonstrated in simulation for the optimization of a continuous stirred-tank reactor.
