Resumen:
The present work was designed to analyse DNA damage induced by low doses of X-rays in two cell lines CHO-K1 and MRC-5. Damage was evaluated at the beginning of the experiment and 12 days after exposure by means of comet assay and micronucleus analysis. Results obtained showed DNA damage induction in both cell lines studied. There was a high correlation between their responses indicating that even very low doses of ionizing radiation are able to affect the genome integrity autonomously of the cellular type. Analysis after 12 days of culture showed time delayed damage in both cell lines suggesting that low doses and low dose rates of x-rays may induce genomic instability.
