Resumen:
Surfactants are one of the most widely used excipients in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. In this context, amino acid-based surfactants constitute an important class of natural surface-active biomolecules with biocompatible properties and multifunctional activities. As surfactants are able to interact with the lipid bilayer of cell membranes, their surface and interface activities in systems involving interaction with membranes have been the subject of intense study. Because of the simplicity of the erythrocyte structure, red blood cells are one of the most popular cell membrane systems to study the surfactant-membrane interaction as well as the mechanisms underlying surfactant-induced osmotic cell resistance.
