Descripción:
Experimental evaluation of the Samborombón Bay stripped mullet fishery, within the Province of Buenos Aires, was developed for the Marine Stewardship Council and the Fishery Management Authority of the Province of Buenos Aires, acting as client.  The Trial Assessment Process was initiated by production of a Scoping Document by OIA in November 2007. The Trial Assessment Process was initiated by production of a Scoping Document by OIA in November 2007.  The fishery was evaluated against the MSC Principles and Criteria. The Trial Assessment process was planned in three stages. The first stage (December 2007) permitted the Assessment Team to gain an overview of this complex artisanal fishery. The second stage (March 2008) allowed the Assessment Team to improve their knowledge of the fishery; to develop an appropriate Assessment Tree, which included the Scale, Intensity, Consequence Analysis Indicators (SICA, first risk analysis method) where applicable; and to score it with the participation of invited selected stakeholders. The third stage (July 2008) allowed the Assessment Team to definitively score the Assessment Tree, and apply the Productivity Susceptibility Analysis (PSA, second risk analysis method) to assess the fishery against MSC Principle 1.
