Resumen:
ABSTRACT The structure of the liver of the stripped weakfish has been studied. Techniques of staining (H-E, Masson trichromic, Gomori argentic impregnation, Toluidine blue-aurantia) and histochemistry (PAS, Sudan Black, Sudan IV, alkaline phosphatase and acid phosphatase) have been used. The stripped weakfish  liver parenchyma was divided into lobules containing hepatocytes ordered  around a central sinusoid. Variability in the hepatocyte lipids and glycogen occurs along  the year . The hepatopancreas, formed by cilindrical cells, is sorrounded by a branch of the portail vein. Melano-macrophage centres  were also present in the liver. The hepatic organisation of the stripped weakfish agree with that reported for other Sciaenidae. Keywords: Sciaenidae, Cynoscion guatucupa, liver, histology, histochemistry
